An innovative treatment to help treat tendon and ligament injuries

SportVis™ is a peri-articular injection of STABHATM (soft tissue adapted biocompatible hyaluronic acid) indicated to relieve pain and restore function in damaged tendons and ligaments.

Therapeutic class (orthopedics):

SportVis™ is the only hyaluronic acid (STABHA™: Soft Tissue Adapted Biocompatible Hyaluronic Acid) supplement indicated for soft tissue injuries. SportVis™ augments the sodium hyaluronate naturally present in the soft tissue surrounding damaged tendons and ligaments and provides support, lubrication, and hydration to the affected site.

Form:

Sterile 1% sodium hyaluronate in phosphate-buffered saline contained
in a single-use syringe.

Formats:

1.2 mL of SportVis™, sterilized by filtration, is enclosed within a disposable ready-to-use glass syringe, to be used with the appropriate gauge of needle.

Ingredients:

Each 1.2 mL pre-filled syringe of SportVis™ contains sodium hyaluronate (10 mg/mL).

Indications:

SportVis™ is intended to relieve pain and restore function in acute first- and second-degree ankle sprain and chronic (>3 months) lateral epicondylalgia (tennis elbow).

Dosage and Directions for Use:

Peri-articular injection of SportVis™ should only be made by a healthcare
professional trained in the specific peri-articular injection technique which is injury specific.

Ankle sprains:

Two injections, as follows. One 1.2 mL peri-articular injection of SportVis™,
preferably within 48 hours of the first- or second-degree ankle
sprain, followed by a second injection two to three days after the first
injection. A 27-gauge needle is recommended.

Peri-articular injections should be delivered during a single penetration along the anterior talofibular ligament using clinical landmarks. The injection is delivered in a fanning technique along three planes from anteroposterior, medial, and lateral to the proximal ligamentous landmark. A third of the contents of each syringe should be released into the injury site during withdrawal of the syringe during each of the 3 phases.

Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylalgia):

Two injections, as follows. One 1.2 mL peri-articular injection of SportVis™
at the lateral elbow epicondyle site, followed by a second injection at the same site one week after the first injection. A 27-gauge needle is recommended.

Identify the tenderest point of the epicondyle by gentle palpation. Position the needle at 45 degrees to the point of maximal pain of the lateral epicondyle.
After puncture of the skin, angle the needle parallel to the skin and insert it towards the point of maximal pain on the lateral epicondyle. The injection is to be administered in two planes using a fanning technique. Inject half the contents as the needle is withdrawn towards the skin without exiting the
skin.
Rotate the needle 180 degrees (opposite direction) and insert the
needle parallel to the skin towards the point of maximal pain on the lateral epicondyle. Inject the remaining contents as the needle is withdrawn towards the skin. Remove the needle from the skin. Flex and extend the elbow five times and then internally and externally rotate five times.

Contraindications:

Patients with known sensitivity to sodium hyaluronate.

Warnings and Precautions:

  • SportVis™ should only be injected by a healthcare professional trained in peri-articular injection techniques.
  • SportVisTM must not be injected into blood vessels or into a hematoma.
  • Direct injection into tendons should be avoided, as this can lead to rupture. Use of an ultrasound probe to guide the injection will minimize this risk.
  • Do not inject into the soft tissue of patients if the area of the injection site is infected or if there is evidence of acute or chronic skin disease in the area.

Storage:

Store between 5 °C and 25 °C. Do not freeze. Protect
from light.
